Ex-Super Eagles Defender, Ajibade Babalade, Is Dead


Ajibade Babalade, a former Tremendous Eagles defender, has died after struggling cardiac arrest.

Based on PUNCH, Babalade, 48, died whereas being rushed to the College School Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo State.

He’s survived by a spouse and three youngsters, who’re all primarily based within the US.

The retired defender was a squad member of the Eagles that gained bronze on the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal.

Ex-Eagles goalkeeper and Babalade’s Senegal ’92 teammate, Ike Shorunmu, confirmed the loss of life of the Lagos-born ex-footballer.

Shorunmu instructed PUNCH that he was knowledgeable of his friend’s loss of life within the afternoon after attending Jumat service.

“I went to the mosque for Jumat service this afternoon (Friday), so I switched off my cellphone. Instantly I put it again on, I acquired a message from Ajibade’s in-law that I wanted to be at his place. So, I went with my spouse, however on our arrival, the (Babalade’s) household broke the information to me,â€‌ Shorumnu mentioned.
